Frequently Asked Questions

For most individual returns, you will need: W-2 forms from all employers, 1099 forms (interest, dividends, freelance income, retirement distributions), Social Security numbers for yourself and any dependents, last year's tax return, receipts for deductible expenses (medical, charitable donations, business expenses), mortgage interest statements (Form 1098), and any notices received from the IRS or state tax agency. Self-employed clients should also bring records of business income and expenses.
